We are Looking for:

We are seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Pulmonary & Critical Care team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced Physicians outpatient settings. The NP will play an integral role in the evaluation, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions as well as critically ill patients in the ICU. 


Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and manage patients with pulmonary conditions such as COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and sleep apnea
  • Assist with the management of critically ill patients in the ICU, including ventilator management, sedation protocols, and hemodynamic monitoring (training provided)
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests, including chest X-rays, CT scans, pulmonary function tests, and lab work
  • Participate in hospital rounds with supervising physicians and coordinate inpatient care plans
  • Educate patients and families on disease processes, medications, therapies, and preventive measures
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary in collaboration with the care team
  • Write prescriptions and coordinate care with specialists and primary care providers as needed
  • Participate in outpatient follow-up visits and chronic disease management in a clinic setting

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program. 
  • Current approval by the joint Board of Medical Examiners and Board of Nursing to perform medical acts. 
  • Must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Texas. 
  • Because of the nature of responsibilities, it is preferable to have experience in counseling and teaching and have a master's degree. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Able to lift 100 pounds to assist fallen residents. 
  • Able to lift 10 pounds for routine performance of essential functions. 
  • May be exposed to adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, bloodborne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.) and chemical hazards.
