Description:
AVID Tutors will assist students in grades 6-12. The hours are flexible and vary between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Job Summary:
Follow the tutorial model for tutoring and also to provide general tutoring, writing lab support, organization and time management strategies in order to increase academic achievement of students.
Facilitate student tutorial groups, assist in reviewing completed tutorial request forms, review student binders, and notes and coach students using AVID strategies for classwork and homework.
Tutor students through the AVID elective courses and provide general tutoring services during non-AVID classperiods and afterschool as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Must be able to implement specific AVID strategies that develop critical thinking, self-efficacy and student learning within a small group setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Some college/university, or post-secondary enrollement or job training program participation.
Salary: $25.00/hour
