Senior External Affairs Manager: We are looking for a Senior External Affairs Manager to protect and enhance Ageas’s reputation by leading external affairs activity across media, stakeholder engagement, and issues management. The role supports strategic communications and crisis response, ensuring timely, accurate and consistent messaging across the organisation and externally.

Main Responsibilities as Senior External Affairs Manager:

  • Partner with the Head of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability to develop and implement strategies that address live and emerging issues affecting Ageas’s reputation.
  • Proactively monitor external developments, particularly digital and media activity, to identify potential risks and devise mitigation strategies.
  • Identify and manage thought leadership opportunities for senior leaders, including speaking engagements, authored content, and media commentary.
  • Act as a senior spokesperson and primary media contact, including during weekends and crisis situations, ensuring 24/7 media access and rapid response.
  • Design, implement and optimise communication systems and processes to ensure rapid, consistent and accurate information flow across the organisation.

Skills and experience you need as Senior External Affairs Manager:

  • Strong experience in understanding media and public affairs with ability to identify and build new contacts.
  • Excellent media relations skills including drafting and editing content, and dealing with journalists’ queries, confidently acting as a spokesperson.
  • Confident communicator with strong writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to use clear language to explain often complex issues.
  • Effective influencing and networking skills, able to liaise, coach and advice people at all levels and from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • A good networker, able to quickly develop a wide internal and external network of contacts and establish trust.
