About the role
As Head of Product, you will play a critical role in defining and driving the Daily Mail’s digital product vision and strategy. Working closely with the Chief Product and Innovation Officer, you will lead cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class digital experiences that deepen user engagement, grow audience reach, and strengthen our position as a leading global news and entertainment destination.
You will blend strategic leadership with hands-on execution—overseeing product roadmaps, guiding teams through delivery, and ensuring our product decisions are informed by data, audience insights, and journalistic values.
Main Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the Chief Product and Innovation Officer to define the Daily Mail’s product vision, strategy, and roadmap across web, app, and emerging platforms.
- Translate the company’s editorial and commercial objectives into clear product goals and initiatives.
- Champion a user-centric approach to product development—balancing audience needs, editorial priorities, and business growth.
Execution & Delivery
- Lead the product management team to execute on strategic initiatives across audience growth, engagement, and retention.
- Ensure roadmaps are data-driven and outcome-oriented, with clear KPIs tied to audience and revenue goals.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with engineering, design, data, editorial, and marketing.
- Embed a culture of rapid experimentation, testing, and learning.
Audience Growth & Engagement
- Define and execute strategies to increase reach, frequency, and time spent across digital platforms.
- Partner with analytics and audience development teams to identify growth opportunities and optimize engagement funnels.
- Leverage personalisation, notifications, and loyalty initiatives to deepen user engagement and retention.
Leadership & Influence
- Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of Product Managers and Product Designers.
- Act as a deputy for to the Chief Product and Innovation Officer when required.
- Act as a trusted partner to senior editorial and commercial stakeholders.
Person Specification
- 8+ years’ experience in product management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of leading digital product teams within a fast-paced media, publishing, or consumer tech environment.
- Deep understanding of audience growth, engagement, and retention strategies.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience using data to inform product decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and cross-functional team leadership.
- Passion for news, media, and storytelling.
