Description
The primary purpose of your position is to manage the staff in the Emergency Department. You will supervise and provide direction to staff to ensure compliance with accrediting agencies, Federal, State, Local Standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility and as may be directed by the CEO to ensure the highest quality of care. You will serve as a professional role model and provide leadership to ensure the department runs smoothly.
- Determines the qualification and competence of department.

Orients and provides in-service training and assist with continuing education to all persons in the department.

Actively participates in CQI programs and activities: data collection, evaluation and recommendations for improvement within the department.

Ensures monthly departmental meetings are held and keeps accurate records of meetings.

Participates in the recruitment and selection of nursing service personnel.

Monitor absenteeism to ensure that an adequate number of nursing care personnel are on duty always.

Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities and directing the work of subordinate staff to ensure that quality care is provided.

Maintains records, prepares reports and composes correspondence relative to the work.

Provides direct nursing care as necessary.

Ensures that quality, safe care is given to each patient. Uses patient rounds and CQI reports to determine that quality care is being given.

Performs evaluation of patient care personnel, as well as discipling employees that don’t fulfill their job requirements or provide inadequate patient care.

Takes all “call-ins” and adjusts staffing accordingly.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor’s preferred.
- Current Georgia RN licensure.
- Current ACLS and PALS certification.
- Five years of related experience and/or training.
- The equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Leadership skills; industry knowledge, critical thinking, relationship building, ethical judgement, adaptability, quick thinking, analytical-planning, quantitative data and action.
