Position Overview:
Convergence Health is seeking a patient-centric, self-starter, medical assistant who will support our multi-specialty surgeons, collaborate and be part of an integrated care team as well as ensure quality, seamless care to our patients. The Medical Assistant will cultivate relationships with our surgeons, patients, care team and Community partners. You will focus on continually learning to adapt to our growing multi-specialty services that currently include Orthopedics, Women’s Health, ENT, General Surgery, Podiatry, Ophthalmology and Oncology. We are looking for someone who strives in a fast-paced environment and promotes a culture of excellence.
You will play an integral role in the Medical office acting as a patient advocate and liaison with physicians and nurses. Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure patients’ electronic records are updated, assist with scheduling, and perform standard procedures such as blood drawing and taking vitals. You will also need a keen eye for detail as the role encompasses clinical skills as well as administrative duties.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization
- Assist patients in exam rooms and identify needs for assistive devices such as wheelchairs
- Accurately updates patient’s electronic record (i.e. medical history, contact information)
- Assist with scheduling patient appointments
- Performs standard procedures such as, but not limited to blood draws, vitals, and EKGs
- Accurately and efficiently measures and records vital signs
- Prepare exam rooms and medical instruments for examinations and procedures.
- Administer injections, medications and point-of-care testing as directed by the physician
- Assist with pre and post op patient education as well as ensure paperwork is signed and accurate
- Assist with prior authorizations
- Cleans exam rooms according to standard protocols to include stocking of rooms as needed.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
- Answers phone calls with a professional and compassionate greeting.
- Educates patients about medical conditions, treatment plans, and home care instructions as directed by the physician.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a medical assistant program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Multi-specialty experience working with and supporting surgeons preferred
- Proficiency in medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
- Experience with pre and post op patient education, (preferred)
- Experience with obtaining prior authorizations, (preferred)
- Familiarity with appropriate CPT and diagnosis codes, (preferred)
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience as a medical assistant
