Summary

The ideal candidate will provide a variety of outdoor spa services in a luxurious resort setting. These include mini hand and foot massages, sunscreen spritzers, facial mask enhancements, and full-body or targeted massage treatments delivered within serene, open-air poolside cabanas.

You’ll play a vital role in creating a relaxing and memorable guest experience by delivering high-quality, customized bodywork in a serene outdoor environment. With a friendly and outgoing personality, you’ll engage warmly with guests and members, taking an active role in driving business by promoting poolside services, spa upgrades, and wellness offerings.

Working in semi-private resort spaces, you will consistently uphold the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and professional conduct. Your ability to blend expert technique with exceptional guest care helps enhance the resort’s wellness brand and ensures a premium level of comfort, relaxation, and hospitality.

 

Essential Functions

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

  • Perform a variety of massage modalities (e.g., Swedish, deep tissue, mask application) tailored to guest needs.
  • Deliver services in poolside cabanas, outdoor spa pavilions, or other open-air resort environments.
  • Prepare and maintain a clean, inviting, and safe treatment area to include but not limited to poolside setup and cabanas in accordance with spa standards and hygiene protocols.
  • Conduct brief pre-treatment consultations to assess guest needs, preferences, and any contraindications.
  • Uphold resort standards for privacy, discretion, and luxury service in public or semi-public settings.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of spa services and wellness products offered.
  • Set up, break down, and sanitize portable massage equipment and supplies for each session.
  • Refer to booking grid through computer software on a mobile device to determine availability and booking opportunities.  
  • Communicate with Spa Front Desk to manage appointments, guest feedback, and scheduling logistics.
  • Educate guests on the benefits of continued massage and suggest enhancements and follow-up treatments.
  • Comply with all health and safety guidelines, local massage licensing regulations, and resort policies.

Reports to Spa Director

 

External Relationships

Has regular contact with members and hotel guests

 

Qualifications

  • Outdoor setup and breakdown of massage tables, chairs and supplies
  • Skin-safe product knowledge (especially for sun-exposed skin)
  • Adaptability to outdoor conditions (heat, breeze, noise, guest flow)
  • Strong guest interaction skills – warm, intuitive, and professional

 

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Valid state/province Massage Therapy License or certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year of massage experience, preferably in a luxury or resort spa setting.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (shade, heat, humidity).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; warm and professional guest demeanor.
  • Ability to promote and drive Poolside and cabana offerings with the assistance of spa booking team and computer software (SpaSoft).
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and peak travel seasons.
  • CPR/First Aid certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of spa sanitation and COVID-safe protocols.

 

Physical Requirements

Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. It requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
