Job Summary:

The Villages Prep Part-Time Virtual Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and consultation services to students in a virtual setting. The Psych NP works closely with parents/guardians, school staff, and clinical team members to develop individualized treatment plans and ensure students’ mental health needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct virtual psychiatric assessments and evaluations for students.

• Provide medication management, including prescribing and monitoring psychiatric medications, in accordance with California law.

• Collaborate with therapists, counselors, and school staff to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

• Consult with parents/guardians regarding mental health concerns, treatment plans, and medication management.

• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide input on student mental health needs.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records.

• Educate staff and families on strategies to support student mental health and behavioral needs.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant federal and California state laws, professional standards, and telehealth regulations.

Qualifications:

• Current and active California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license.

• Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification required.

• Experience working with children and adolescents, ideally in educational or school-based settings.

• Strong understanding of child-age developmental and behavioral issues.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.

• Ability to work independently in a virtual environment.
