The Facilities Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for assisting in and as needed be directly responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of multiple Sunrock locations. This role is required to work safely and productively in an industrial maintenance and office environment. In this position routine duties are performed with minimal supervision. Standard practices or procedures allow the employee to proceed alone at routine work. There is an occasional check of work while in progress and work is reviewed upon completion. The incumbent must be highly motivated, able to complete tasks without supervision, and have the ability to communicate issues to the Facilities Maintenance Manager. Good judgment and common sense is required in all duties and any other tasks as assigned and directed by the Facilities Maintenance Manager. Normal work days Monday through Friday with evenings and weekends as needed. The work hours may fluctuate based on business necessity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or the Manager Safety and Health.
- Monitors the safety practices (including PPE) of all team members and proactively addresses deficits.
- General knowledge of construction, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air-conditioning and heating systems.
- Ability to maintain, repair, and rebuild drywalls, flooring, roofing, siding and electrical issues in the buildings.
- Inspect and diagnose problems and determine the best way to correct them.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that business continues to run smoothly.
- Operates powered hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment.
- Plan repair work using blueprints or diagrams.
- Perform general cleaning and upkeep of buildings and properties.
- Assists in the reporting of the maintenance work orders completed, parts replaced, and issues on each work project.
- Identifies issues in facilities through inspections, communicates issues to management, and directs plant supervisors and plant personnel of identified issues.
- Maintain Sunrock facilities by assisting with or leading repairs and breakdowns as needed
- Inspects machinery and equipment visually, and reports any malfunctions.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
- Clears working areas and equipment in and around the facility and office including the use of high pressure hoses, digging and maintaining drainage ditches, and shoveling muck, stone and sand from around employees or fixed equipment.
- Loads and unloads incoming and outgoing products and supplies manually.
- Maintains, cleans, and sweeps all areas surrounding various site location.
- Keep detailed records of finished work.
- Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Three (3) – five (5) years of related experience is required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
1. A current North Carolina driver’s license required
2. Post-Secondary or Vocational training Certification preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to use hand tools and all other proper tools required for the job.
- Must have mechanical knowledge and ability.
- Ability to read and comprehend, in English, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Basic personal computer skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
