The Physician provides comprehensive medical care in a correctional healthcare setting, including diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. This role will collaborate with nursing and other healthcare staff to develop and implement treatment plans, and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. The Physician also maintains accurate medical records and adheres to all regulations and facility policies.

How YOU can Make an Impact:

Deliver high-quality, evidence-based medical care to incarcerated individuals.

Conduct thorough medical assessments to diagnose and develop individualized treatment plans.

Prescribe pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical interventions appropriately. Monitor and adjust treatment as needed.

Work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated, holistic care.

Respond to emergencies, ensuring immediate, effective interventions. Provide leadership in emergency medical responses.

Educate patients on managing chronic conditions, preventing health issues, and understanding treatment plans.

Document promptly and properly.

Provide education and guidance to healthcare staff, including Nurses, on best practices, medical protocols, and standards of care.

Provide on-call services, including after-hours, to ensure continuity of care and address urgent healthcare needs of patients.

Work alongside correctional officers to ensure that healthcare needs are met while maintaining security and safety.

Uphold the highest ethical standards. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all legal and ethical guidelines.
What we Ask of YOU:

A current, valid, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia (MD, DO).

Valid DEA Registration required prior to Start Date.
-
Experience in providing healthcare services within a managed care or correctional facility setting is highly desired.

Active CPR/BLS certificate required prior to Start Date (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).
