Job Description:

Position Summary: The Program Coordinator RN performs a variety of duties essential to
tracking the quality of patient care related to cardiac emergencies, cerebrovascular
emergencies, and trauma. The Program Coordinator RN reviews pertinent charts, identifies
areas of improvement in categories that are pre-determined with the Program Manager,
and relays findings to the Program Manager for follow-up. The Program Coordinator RN
also works closely with the Quality Department to enable the team to perform necessary
data entry and answer clinical questions that may arise. The Program Coordinator RN also
assists with providing education to frontline staff, working directly with the Program
Manager and Clinical Education to do so. The Program Coordinator RN must display the
ability to work both independently and within the context of the team. Must have excellent
communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing technology and the needs of the
department.

Job Responsibilities:
• Abstracts pertinent data from patient charts
• Collaborates with the Trauma, Stroke, and Cardiac Program Manager to find
opportunities for improvement in care of the trauma patient
• Collaborates with the Quality Department for data entry needs, DOH requirements,
and clinical consultation
• Assists with applications for recognition awards from various agencies

Required Qualifications:
• 2 years of Emergency Department experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in clinical education
• Experience in process improvement

Special Training/Skills:
• Chart review and data abstraction
• Epic familiarity preferred
• Word processing, spreadsheet, and computer skills

Working conditions:
• Ability to adapt to dynamic healthcare environment
• Self-directed, ability to work independently and collaboratively with hospital
community
• Job may involve possible exposure to blood and body fluids
• Job may involve work with patients or work in patient care areas

Physical Requirements:
This is a moderately sedentary position, with possibility of
standing and walking for training purposes during education events. Vision/hearing within
normal limits. Frequent long stretches of sitting at a desk, writing, working on computer
keyboard. Hearing and vision corrected to within normal limits.
