General Definition of Work

The transportation support manager, under intermittent supervision, performs complex work with minimal decision-making discretion coordinating and monitoring budgeting activities in the transportation department. Position provides advanced administrative support to the executive director.  Employee performs district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Executive Director of Transportation.

Salary/Status

Salary NC 17/ Full-time, 12 months

 

Reports To

Executive Director of Transportation.

 

Place of Work

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

 

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
  • Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff/programs
  • Assist in implementation of polices and procedures; provide input into transportation goals and objectives
  • Manage, delegate, and monitor work for the transportation department related to budgeting, materials, parts and inventory management
  • Administer the transportation budget and perform payroll processing functions
  • Assist in the maintenance of proper budgetary controls 
  • Coordinate the annual budget process for transportation including analyzing budget initiatives and position allotments/requirements  
  • Collaborate on the procurement of goods and services for transportation
  • Assist with preparing bids, processing awards, preparing requisitions, and reconciling receipts
  • Manage capital outlay and equipment replacement costs 
  • Compile data analysis as directed, including planning and forecasting reports, productivity and efficiency studies; recommend areas of improvement
  • Maintain databases for the purposes of position control and accurate accounting of all transportation positions
  • Performs administrative duties including, generating State required reports, accident reports, workers compensation claims, inspection reports, etc.
  • Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
  • Perform related work as assigned or required
