Special Education Elementary Teacher 11-month bei Join Delaware Schools Consortium

• Possess or be eligible for a valid Delaware teaching license and be certified as Special Education Teacher of Students with Disabilities in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1571. 
• Additional certification as Teacher of Students with Autism or with Severe Intellectual Disabilities in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1573 preferred.
• Experience and/or knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis therapy (ABA) preferred.
• Experience and/or knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) preferred.
• Experience working with students with autism or complex disabilities preferred.

• Serve as lead teacher and case manager for a classroom of students with severe disabilities.
• Instruct students in academic subjects utilizing various teaching techniques targeted to student needs.
• Provide behavioral interventions and systematic, purposeful instruction at students' instructional level.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders regarding student-specific behavioral programming and support.
• Utilize behavioral data and frequent ongoing progress monitoring systems to inform instructional decisions
• Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within a self-contained environment.
• Serve as a case manager for students in the ILC classroom.
• Participate in IEP meetings.
• Facilitate implementation of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) within the classroom and school setting.
• Work with school psychologists, administrators, and IEP Team to develop and implement effective programming for students.
• Participate in PLC meetings including the special education department, grade-level meetings and with external stakeholders, as appropriate.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
• Collaborate with the general education teacher to differentiate instruction and provide accommodations as afforded by the IEP. 

Essential Employment Condition: By accepting employment as an 11-month employee with the Milford School District, you acknowledge and understand that:

• A primary responsibility during the summer months (June–August) is to support district-run summer programming for special education students, Extended School Year (ESY), and/or other specialized instructional or support services.
• 11-month employees are expected to maintain flexibility in scheduling to fulfill assigned duties related to summer instruction, student services, or program coordination. The Director of Special Programs shall make every effort to inform 11-month employees of their assigned summer responsibilities by the end of May.
