About Us:
The City of Glendale Parks and Recreation Department is split into two distinct areas:
  • The Parks Division manages and maintains all public parks, open spaces, trails, storm water retention basins, landscaping at municipal facilities and Thunderbird Conservation Park. The Division is also responsible for monitoring and ensuring the safety and security of park and facility use.
  • The Recreation Division offers opportunities to enhance the social, physical, mental and economic health of our community through a variety of diverse recreation programs and facilities. Recreation programs and events are held at the Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center, the Glendale Adult Center, Historic Sahuaro Ranch, the five community centers and at basketball, tennis, skate courts and other recreation facilities throughout the city.

Our Recreation Division offers a wide variety of programs, including youth and adult sports, fitness classes, art workshops, special interest activities, science programs, and more. We are currently seeking enthusiastic, friendly individuals who enjoy working in a vibrant community recreation center environment.

The Event and Facility Attendant supports the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of event spaces to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests. Duties include arranging furniture and equipment for meetings and events, assisting with audio-visual setup, and performing general cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, and window washing. The position also maintains facility interiors and exteriors, including restrooms, hallways, patios, and public areas, while ensuring equipment is properly maintained. This role requires teamwork, attention to detail, and a professional, service-oriented attitude at all times.

Salary:
Position Overview:
This part-time position requires availability to work any day of the week, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Hours: Up to 19 hours per week, scheduled as needed
  • Hourly rate: $16.00 - $18.00
  • FLSA status: Non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 per week)
  • Sick Time: Accrues at .034 hours per-hour-paid

Position Duties

  1. Participate in the banquet room setup and breakdown for various meetings and events.
  2. Assist with audio visual set up and break down when necessary.
  3. Dust and polish furniture and woodwork.
  4. Vacuum carpets, sweep floors, and move furniture when necessary.
  5. Empty, clean, and line waste receptacles
  6. Wash windows and walls.
  7. Maintain and repair equipment.
  8. Various janitorial duties.
  9. Continuous cleaning of facility inside and out to include but not limited to; public space areas hallways, offices, restrooms, and entryways to facility; Also includes upkeep of both outdoor patio(s) and window cleaning.
  10. Demonstrate the ability to take instruction and promote a team environment.
  11. Perform other functions as requested.
  12. Always maintain a professional and friendly appearance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • No previous work experience required. Banquet set up or audio-visual experience a plus.

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.

Other Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds.

  •  Must be able to be on their feet for long periods of time.

  • This position is classified as safety-sensitive which requires candidates to successfully undergo drug and alcohol testing prior to employment. They will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their period of employment in accordance with the City of Glendale Substance Abuse policy. A post-offer physical assessment is required. The City of Glendale will incur the cost of all required testing.
