ABOUT LIFEMOVES

LifeMoves is the largest and most effective provider of interim housing and services for homelessness in Silicon Valley since 1987. Our Mission is to end homelessness by providing interim housing, supportive services, and building collaborative partnerships. With over two dozen interim supportive housing communities and more on the way, LifeMoves gives our neighbors experiencing homelessness a temporary place to call home while providing intensive, customized case management through site-based programs and community outreach.

 

POSITION PURPOSE

The Corporate Philanthropy Officer will play a key role in executing the LifeMoves Corporate Fundraising Program. As a primary relationship manager on the team, this position is responsible for maintaining financial support and growing engagement with their portfolio of 70 – 100 corporate and community partners.

 

To be successful in this role, this person must build high-trust relationships with a broad range of corporate and community contacts, from executive decision makers to Corporate Social Responsibility teams to employee volunteers. This person will navigate the evolving corporate philanthropy landscape to determine appropriate employee engagement strategies, leverage corporate matches, and solicit partnership and sponsorship gifts.

 

The Ideal Candidate will have strong relationship management skills, be proactive and self-motivated, collaborative and team-oriented to appear as one team to external partners. Possess strong communication skills and demonstrate sound judgement. Have skills to implement best practices and procedures as adopted by the team.

 

This role qualifies for a hybrid schedule (a minimum of 2 days in the office, 3 days remotely, and a maximum of 3 days remotely).

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Manage strategic corporate accounts. Develop proactive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for a portfolio of corporate partners and community partners. Prioritize and offer key opportunities to existing corporate donors. Be able to consistently meet fundraising goals annually. This is the primary function of this role and requires incredible flexibility, patience, and tenacity.

  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit prospects to secure new corporate sponsors and partners using an entrepreneurial approach. Be on the lookout for new and creative ways to connect with donors. Demonstrate gratitude to donors at each touch point, including being responsive and keeping records up to date with donor contact. Prepare and send accurate and timely letters of acknowledgement and other correspondence.

  • Represent LifeMoves internally and externally. Coordinate and manage engagements, including virtual and in-person volunteer events for corporate employees, public recognition for sponsors, and logistics for employee fundraisers—partner with the individual philanthropy team to engage corporate executives. Represent LifeMoves in public speaking environments. Demonstrate knowledge and share appropriate information accurately. Be able to present in a virtual setting and in-person with ease and credibility.

  • Build relationships with key stakeholders inside LifeMoves. Collaborate internally with teams across the LifeMoves organization. Some examples include the Grants and Contracts Team, which identifies and manages the grant process, the finance teams for budgeting and invoicing, and the program teams.

  • Write Custom Proposals: Leverage templates and other proposals to create custom fundraising proposals, promotional materials, stewardship reports, and ongoing communications with corporate and community contacts.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • A proven track record of developing long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with corporate accounts.

  • Three years of successful soliciting gifts of $10,000 or more.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Knowledge of the Silicon Valley philanthropic community.

  • Significant level of computer proficiency, including MS Office and relational donor databases (Salesforce experience preferred).

  • Work in-person and have the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license and a safe DMV record.

  • Strong desire to make a difference in the lives of others and further the mission of LifeMoves.

  • An understanding of ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development in this area.

  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends
