Pay, Benefits & Perks

  • $10,000 Hiring Bonus (paid in installments over 12 months)
  • Potential for higher starting pay based on prior BLE Certified experience
  • Full-time, permanent position with health, retirement, and paid leave

Schedule & Expectations

  • 12-hour shifts (7:45 to 7:45) – fixed days or nights
  • Includes weekends and holidays
  • Emergency-response role—you’ll be called in during community emergencies
  • Must pass background, physical fitness, and certification requirements

Position Duties

What You’ll Need to Bring:

High school diploma or GED— or a mix of education, training, and experience that shows you’re ready for this role.
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current POST certification under the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Act
  • Ability to qualify and requalify with your service weapon twice a year after certification
  • GCIC Security & Awareness Training (must be completed within 10 days of hire)
  • First Aid & CPR Certification (within 3 months of hire)
  • Basic Jail Certification Course(within 6 months of hire)

If You’re Assigned to Special Roles:If You’re Assigned to Special Roles:

Depending on your assignment, some additional training may be required:

  • Transport Unit (Bus Driver): Must have a Class A or B CDL with passenger endorsement 
  • Field Section: Complete the court or field training program within 3 months
  • Jail Section: Complete the jail training core modules within 2 months

Higher Rank if You have:Corporal Rank if You have:

  • At least 2 years of law enforcement related experience.

Minimum Qualifications

What You'll Do:

Protect & Serve Your Community

  • Ensure the safety of inmates, coworkers, and the public in the jail or courthouse.
  • Step in during emergencies, de-escalate tensions, and respond with calm and confidence.
  • Be a presence in the community—helping people, not just policing them.

 Maintain Safety & Order

  • Supervise up to 72 inmates with fairness and respect.
  • Conduct cell checks, respond to incidents, and handle inmate movement with care and professionalism.
  • Monitor security systems and enforce facility rules consistently.

Enforce the Law & Support the Courts

  • Serve warrants, make arrests, and support courtroom operations.
  • Transport prisoners safely and securely between facilities or courtrooms.
  • Support judges and court staff with safety and order in high-stakes environments.

Stay Sharp, Stay Ready

  • Train in defensive tactics, de-escalation, and life-saving measures.
  • Learn to operate advanced systems and communication tools.
  • Stay up to date with certifications and qualifications—because excellence is part of the job.
