We are looking forward to a fantastic Minnesota winter and are looking for people to work at our warming house. These employees will welcome visitors to the rink, make sure everyone is having fun safely, and keep the ice rinks and warming house in good condition. The season will begin as soon as we are able to make ice. Interested candidates need to complete an online application. Essential Functions
- Performs recreation building facility operational duties.
- Responsible for opening and closing facilities according to the site policy.
- Maintains order and discipline; enforces policies, rules, and regulations established by the City of Elk River and partners.
- Maintains cleanliness of facility.
- Cleans and makes minor repairs to recreational equipment and facilities.
- Performs supervision, public relations and safety duties.
- Greets the public.
- Must be able to assume a positive and active role at the facility, even while working under potentially stressful conditions (weather, upset or injured participants, etc.).
- Interacts with community members in a professional, courteous, friendly, and helpful manner.
- Ensures safety precautions are taken in all activities, follows proper emergency procedures when needed.
- Communicates needs and requests, including those of participants or their parents to supervisor.
- Works cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers.
- Responsible for attending all trainings and staff meetings, as scheduled.
- Provides first aid supplies to patrons, as needed.
- Completes accident reports and all other reports requested by supervisor.
- Helps direct play and other activities as directed by supervisor.
- All other duties as assigned by the Recreation Program Coordinator.
- Orders, inventories, and maintains program supplies.
- Performs other essential job duties.
- Regular and timely work attendance.
- Follows all safety procedures.
- Participates in safety training.
Warming House Attendant Essential Functions
- Performs rink, warming house, and skating area operational duties.
- Assists in light maintenance of ice-skating rinks and grounds.
- Continuously shovels snow off the ice rinks and pathways to and from warming house.
- Patches holes and large cracks in ice.
- Assists young skaters with skate lacing.
- Keeps general skating area free from hockey play.
Open Gym Attendant Essential Functions
- Performs open gym facility operational duties.
- Signs in all participants completely and legibly.
- Collects fees from all participants.
- Balances and remits money and sign in sheets to recreation department every week.
Athletic Fields and Facility Attendant Essential Functions
- Performs athletic field and facilities operational duties.
- Works with umpires.
- Distributes, collects, and enters score sheets and scores.
- Manages facility lighting and scoreboard controllers and boards.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of program operations and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of general housekeeping techniques for building maintenance.
- Ability to maintain warming house and skating rink in a safe manner.
- Organizational, implementation, and communication skills.
- Previous work experience in customer service or youth programs desired.
- Skilled in interpersonal and public relation skills.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to adapt to and introduce change.
- Ability to present a positive and professional image of the City to the public.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instruction.
- Ability to work independently.
Minimum Qualifications
- 16 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent or current high school student.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to ice skate.
- Recreational experience or education.
