POSITION PURPOSE
The MES Developer at Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC) is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions and system integration. This role supports BAC’s digital transformation by ensuring reliable data flow between manufacturing systems and enterprise platforms while supporting operational excellence through MES reporting, monitoring, and integration. This position reports to the Manager, Applications NA, but closely interacts on a daily basis with and works under supervision of the Lead MES Engineer (dotted line) for all design & MES related developments and support.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop, configure, and maintain MES solutions using AVEVA System Platform, including Application Server, OMI, Operation Integration Server, Historian, MES, and Enterprise Integration.
- Design, implement, and support MS SQL databases, including database creation, replication, security setup, jobs, maintenance plans, and linked servers.
- Build, maintain, and secure SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports and reporting infrastructure.
- Set up and manage communication protocols (OPCUA, OPC, MQTT, Webservices, Modbus) for integration with external devices.
- Configure MES client elements (shifts, machines, processes, cause trees) and support production and utilization data reporting.
- Install and set up MES and supporting systems from scratch; provide on-the-job training and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot MES systems, communications, and integration points, including Historian data logging and reporting tools.
- Collaborate with IT/OT teams on integration with ERP systems and shop floor equipment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience as an MES Developer, Engineer, or similar role in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Experience with AVEVA (Wonderware) System Platform components, including Application Server, Historian, OMI, MES, and related tools, would be a strong plus.
- Experience with MS SQL Server: database design, security, SQL commands, replication, jobs, maintenance plans, troubleshooting.
- Experience with SSRS report development and maintenance would be a plus.
- Familiarity with system integration protocols (OPC UA/DA, MQTT, Webservices).
- Experience linking MES systems with ERP and shop floor equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This role will entail standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, balancing, stooping, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, acuity-far, acuity-near, depth perception and field of vision.
May require a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. May require lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance. Travel as required. This position requires working in a shop and office environment. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals and vapors.

BAC Hiring Compensation Range $77,200-$132,300
