Primary Purpose:

As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will apply your mechanical intuition and creativity to design performance, ergonomics, reliability, durability and manufacturability into our industry leading products. The Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for evaluating product design concepts, development of mechanical concepts and generating final mechanical drawings for products and/or manufacturing tooling. This position supports the activities of both engineering and some production/manufacturing.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, design, develop, and maintain products; assist in commercialization.
  • Create 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Detail drawings for manufacturing and assembly of products.
  • Build prototypes, products, and systems for testing; set up and run laboratory simulations.
  • Help evaluate engineering approaches and risks.
  • Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, codes, and other artifacts.
  • Assist in identifying and organizing requirements.
  • Apply usability procedures and principles at project or product-line level or through customer input.
  • Design testing procedures and coordinate testing.
  • Conduct tests, document results, and develop client presentations.
  • Check drawings and models to ensure they are correct and complete.
  • Other tasks assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A demonstrated high level of mechanical intuition.
  • Hands on experience and/or strong knowledge of machining, metal fabrication, die casting and molding.
  • Ability to check drawings ensuring parts are fully defined, properly toleranced and will fit and function properly with associated parts.
  • Understanding of product development cycle, from concept to market.
  • Strong analytical skills balanced with creativity and innovation.
  • Strong effective communicator both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment of constant change.
  • Self-directed individual who works well within a team environment.
  • 2 years of experience in a mechanical engineering, new product development, or sustaining engineering roll.

Preferred:

  • Proficient with SolidWorks 3D modeling and detailing.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a mechanical engineering, new product development, or sustaining engineering roll.
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics.
  • Previous experience in the Indoor or Outdoor Power Equipment or Power Tools industry is a plus.
  • Experience working in a multi-channel retail business/industry.
  • Knowledge of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to streamline problem solving and various tasks a plus.

Education/Certification:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a similar discipline.
