KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools is part of the KIPP national network. In the 2025-26 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating more than 3,000 students, kindergarten through twelfth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida.
KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 12th grade
For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.
K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm
High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm.
Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description:The ideal start date for this role is immediately at KIPP Impact Academy (7000 103rd Street)
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN,) under the direction of the licensed Registered Nurse (RN), provides practical nursing services to students on the KIPP Jacksonville campus. The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for leading the campus clinic with support from the school-based operations teams. The LPN attends to student health needs, administers medications according to physicians’ orders, supports vaccination documentation, and creates a welcoming environment in the school’s clinic. The LPN is required to adhere to all school health policies and procedures in accordance with the Florida Statutes and School Health Services Manual.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Maintains the functionality of the school health room/ clinic to effectively service the health needs of students on campus
- Provides basic first aid and attends to student health needs as indicated in the School Health Services Manual
- Performs routine and prescribed invasive and non-invasive procedures, not limiting to, gastric tube feedings, glucose monitoring, other complex medication procedures
- Identifies and monitors student health information through needs assessments, screenings (Hearing/Vision, BMI, Scoliosis), exams, observations, etc.
- Distributes/ administers prescription and non-prescription medication to students in accordance with applicable laws and directives, following guidelines described in school health policy manual
- Properly documents and maintains appropriate medical records, logs, indices, and schedules on daily and school year diagnoses, procedures, treatments, monitoring, adverse reactions, and notifications; Ensure records are compliant within timely manner of student enrollment and throughout school year (i.e., Immunizations and Physicals)
- Collaborate interventions in conjunction with Registered Nurse, other health and education team members to implement practices to keep students healthy and prevent further disability; collaborate with school interdisciplinary team to conduct and implement Individualized Health Care Plans and Education Plans (IHP and IEP)
- Serves as a health liaison between students, parents, teachers, school administration and other school staff in understanding and coping with a student’s health needs and condition so that they may be able to attend school
- Performs other duties as assigned
COMPENSATION
- The starting salary range for this role is $40,000 - $45,000
- This role is paid on a year round schedule, similar to teachers, but has school holidays and summer vacation in the schedule

REQUIREMENTS
- Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Florida State Board of Nursing; OR graduate from a School of Practical Nursing meeting requirements of the Florida State Board of Nursing with authorization from the Florida State Board of Nursing to practice as an LPN in accordance with Florida Statutes.
- Must maintain the same during employment. The licensure should be held prior to employment
- CPR certification and maintenance of certification during the employment, from one of the following organizations: American Heart Association, Military Training Network, American Red Cross, or American Academy of Pediatrics. CPR certification must be obtained prior to employment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong working knowledge of principles and techniques of practical nursing
- Working knowledge of clinic procedures, instruments, equipment, and the use of medication administration
- Knowledge of childhood illnesses
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR
- Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to administer medications and treatments adjusting to the student’s condition
- Ability to initiate appropriate emergency measures
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, and other staff members
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills
HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ year of nursing experience in children health services and/ or school-based nursing experience OR
- 1+ years pediatric experience
