Senior Internal Auditor bei Port of Seattle

Salary offers will be made within the posted range. Placement within the range will be determined based on your similar work experience. The Port considers work experience to be similar if the scope and level of responsibility of your prior positions match the job being offered.

As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will plan and perform a wide range of independent and objective risk-based audits to provide the Audit Committee and the Executive Director reasonable assurance that organizational controls are designed and operating effectively and efficiently. You will also emphasize improving operations and reducing costs and assist the Internal Audit Director and managers by performing special projects and advisory engagements as requested.

• You will lead and perform risk-based performance audits in accordance with professional audit standards, from the audit announcement through creation of the final audit report, covering complex and technical subject matter of departments, systems, and programs in all divisions of the Port.
• You will communicate audit results and recommendations to stakeholders.
• You will evaluate the extent to which the Port is complying with laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.
• You will proactively build knowledge and stay current with industry information. You will also conduct research in emerging technologies, trends, standards, and business practices, and use knowledge to make recommendations for improvement. 
• You will maintain the required continuous professional education for certifications and professional auditing standards.
• You will conduct non-audit services, consulting engagements, and special projects, as periodically requested by Internal Audit management.
• You will provide training and support to audit team members related to audit processes, procedures, professional audit standards, and relevant computer systems and applications.

• Experienced – You have five (5) years of experience in auditing in one or more of the following areas: accounting, finance, construction, compliance, and/or general business processes.
• Desired – We hope you are a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). We also hope you have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

• Proficient – You possess knowledge of professional auditing standards, including Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book) and the Global Internal Audit Standards (IIA Red Book). You have familiarity with federal, state, and local rules and regulations. You also have knowledge of risk management concepts of internal controls and with electronic audit workpapers.
• Efficient Communicator – You possess effective verbal, written, and active listening communication skills. You also write concise, organized, and clear communications to stakeholders and can engage others in active, open, and productive communication.
• Strategic & Attention to Detail – You use good judgment and strong decision-making skills. You also have strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. 

• Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. 
• Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
• Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
