Are you passionate about animals and desire to make a meaningful impact? Anderson Humane is seeking a caring and compassionate part-time Adoption and Resource Consultant to support our adorable animals and help them find loving homes at our Bloomingdale adoption center and our South Elgin shelter.
What you’ll do
- Ensure animal spaces are clean and that our animals are thriving both mentally and physically.
- Be the friendly face that greets visitors and assists them in finding their new family member.
- Use a variety of computer programs to provide superior service and process animal adoptions.
- Share all the details about our incredible programs and upcoming events.
- Maintain a welcoming environment for both animals and visitors.
What to expect
- A loud (and sometimes messy) and lively environment with animals of all sizes and characters.
- To follow all safety protocols to the letter. We do work with animals after all.
- A mix of indoor and outdoor activities daily.
- To stay active. You’ll be walking, standing, and lifting (occasionally) up to 50 lbs. with help throughout your day.
- To love being a big part of countless joyous moments with happy families.
What you'll love
- Becoming an integral part of our animals’ daily lives; working hands-on with cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies seeing their silly quirks and personalities emerge.
- Playing an instrumental role in bringing families and their new furry family members together.
- Our Consultants start at $16/hour. Add another $1/hour for Spanish fluency.

- A flexible, part-time schedule including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. This role’s hours are Monday through Friday: 8 am – 7:30 pm, Saturday: 8 am – 7:30 pm, and Sunday: 8 am – 6:30 pm.
What we’re looking for
- At least a year of professional customer service experience.
- Adaptability & willingness to regularly work at both locations.
- Strong communication skills that showcase warmth and inclusivity.
- High comfort level learning new software programs.
- Professionalism even in high-emotion situations.
- A natural ability to juggle tasks and prioritize.
