Our Recreation Division offers a wide variety of programs, including youth and adult sports, fitness classes, art workshops, special interest activities, science programs, and more. We are currently seeking enthusiastic, friendly individuals who enjoy working in a vibrant community recreation center environment. This position performs a variety of duties to ensure event spaces and public areas are clean, safe, and properly maintained. Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down banquet rooms for meetings and events, assisting with audio-visual equipment, and performing routine janitorial and maintenance tasks. The position ensures the facility’s interior and exterior areas remain presentable and operational, including restrooms, hallways, patios, and entryways. This role also leads part-time staff during event setup and closure, conducts safety inspections, and performs opening and closing procedures as assigned. This position is expected to work collaboratively, follow directions, and maintain a professional and friendly demeanor while providing high-quality service to guests and staff. Position Duties
- Participate in the banquet room setup and breakdown for various meetings and events.
- Assist with audio visual set up and break down when necessary.
- Dust and polish furniture and woodwork.
- Vacuum carpets, sweep floors, and move furniture when necessary.
- Empty, clean, and line waste receptacles.
- Wash windows and walls.
- Maintain and repair equipment.
Various janitorial duties. - Continuous cleaning of facility inside and out to include but not limited to; public space areas hallways, offices, restrooms, and entryways to facility; Also includes upkeep of both outdoor patio(s) and window cleaning.
- Lead other part-time staff during room setup and breakdowns.
- Responsible for securing and preparing the facility for operations by performing daily opening and closing procedures when necessary.
- Perform routine safety walks of the facility to ensure the building and surrounding areas are in safe, clean, and operational condition.
- Demonstrate the ability to take instruction and promote a team environment.
Perform other functions as requested. - Always maintain a professional and friendly appearance.
Minimum Qualifications
No previous work experience required. Banquet set up or audio-visual experience a plus.
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
Must be able to work weekends, holidays, shift work and variable shifts.
- This position is classified as safety-sensitive which requires candidates to successfully undergo drug and alcohol testing prior to employment. They will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their period of employment in accordance with the City of Glendale Substance Abuse policy. A post-offer physical assessment is required. The City of Glendale will incur the cost of all required testing.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
Must be able to be on their feet for long periods of time.
