Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management

  • Supervise daily activities of pharmacy technicians to ensure timely and accurate dispensing, billing, and documentation.
  • Act as the secondary point of escalation for workflow or staffing issues.
  • Support implementation of policies and standard operating procedures for pharmacy services, including buy-and-bill and in-office dispensing.
  • Ensure compliance with state/federal regulations and practice policies (including DOH inspections and biohazard requirements).

Inventory & Financial Oversight

  • Monitor inventory levels, including oral and infusion drugs, ensuring ordering and stocking are aligned with practice protocols.
  • Track and report on medication waste/spoilage; coordinate replacement claims with manufacturers when applicable.
  • Assist with point-of-sale (POS) processes, ensuring accurate copay collection and electronic signature capture.

Compliance & Quality

  • Maintain compliance with ACHC, NCPDP, and payer requirements by ensuring staff adhere to established workflows.
  • Conduct quality checks on prescriptions and prior authorizations to reduce errors and mitigate audit risk.
  • Participate in internal audits and QA programs as delegated by the Director.

Staff Development & Training

  • Assist with onboarding and training of pharmacy technicians, reinforcing established SOPs and workflow standards.
  • Conduct periodic staff huddles and performance feedback to promote a positive team culture and accountability.
  • Support cross-training initiatives to maintain flexibility and coverage across locations.

Patient Care & Support

  • Ensure timely processing of prior authorizations
  • Support proactive patient assistance identification by guiding staff to connect patients with available copay or free-drug programs.
