RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking an experienced candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Mechanical Engineer - Structural Test and Analysis

This individual will conduct structural testing and analysis activities to validate the performance and durability of components and full systems. The role will focus on developing and executing world-class testing methodologies, correlating test results with simulation models, and driving continuous improvement in structural verification processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies for world-class testing methodologies to ensure components and systems meet durability and performance requirements.

  • Participate in DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) activities to establish robust validation plans.

  • Ensure alignment with modeling and simulation efforts, including test-to-model correlation and data-driven model refinement.

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to designers, lab technicians, and other engineering team members.

  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are achieved on time and within scope.

  • Communicate testing status, key findings, and project trajectory to stakeholders.

  • Oversee test execution, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and data integrity in test results.

  • Conduct and support structural and root cause analysis activities, identifying design and process improvements.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, analysis, and manufacturing teams to define structural requirements, acceptance criteria, and accelerated test profiles.

  • Support sustaining and quality improvement initiatives related to structural durability and field performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in structural testing, mechanical design, validation, or durability analysis

  • Experience with structural design principles and test correlation to simulation models.

  • Proficiency in data acquisition systems and structural data analysis (preferably structural dynamics).

  • Working knowledge of strain gauge installation, load measurement, and fatigue life prediction methods.

  • Experience leading or coordinating lab activities and managing technician workflows.

  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.

  • Familiarity with FEA and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, or Nastran) preferred.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and drive results.

Pay Range: $65,000-$85,000 – Commensurate with experience
