The selected candidate will support FreshDirect’s Operations team by applying engineering principles to real-world challenges in performance, efficiency, and process design. This role is ideal for recent graduates in Mechanical Engineering (or related technical fields) who are eager to gain hands-on experience in large-scale operations while developing skills in continuous improvement and strategy.
- Assist in evaluating current processes and workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency, productivity, and quality improvements.
- Collect and analyze operational data to quantify bottlenecks and support process optimization.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects by developing recommendations, testing solutions, and supporting implementation.
- Support capacity planning, labor modeling, and performance tracking initiatives.
- Partner with engineers, operations leaders, and cross-functional teams to deliver practical, measurable results.
- Help prepare reports and presentations to communicate project outcomes and recommendations.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (recent graduate).
- Strong technical and analytical skills, with a foundation in engineering problem-solving methods.
- Ability to work with data (Excel, statistics, or modeling) to support conclusions.
- Effective communication skills; able to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exposure to Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other process improvement tools.
- Familiarity with engineering modeling or simulation software.
- Coursework or project experience in logistics, manufacturing, or operations systems.
- Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, or data analysis tools.
- Internship, project, or research experience applying engineering skills to process or system improvements.
- Apply your mechanical engineering background to solve real-world operations problems.
- Gain hands-on experience in process improvement, capacity planning, and operational strategy.
- Work closely with experienced engineers and operations leaders on impactful projects.
