Essential Duties:

The Operations Manager oversees daily production, safety, and quality activities within the chemical manufacturing plant. This role ensures efficient operation of all processes, compliance with environmental and safety regulations, and alignment of production goals with company objectives.

  • Plan, organize, and oversee daily chemical production operations to meet output, quality, and delivery targets.

  • Monitor batch processing, blending, and reaction operations to ensure consistency and adherence to process parameters.

  • Implement process improvements to enhance throughput, yield, and cost efficiency.

  • Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.

  • Enforce compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards related to chemical handling, waste management, and environmental safety.

  • Lead regular safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action plans.

  • Ensure proper documentation of all quality control checks and adherence to ISO or internal quality management systems.

  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement among plant personnel.

  • Supervise and mentor shift supervisors, operators, and technical staff; manage scheduling, performance, and training.

  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate priorities, production metrics, and safety reminders.

  • Develop succession and cross-training plans to build operational bench strength.

  • Oversee raw material usage, finished goods inventory, and production planning in coordination with procurement and logistics.

  • Track chemical inventories and usage to ensure compliance with reporting and storage regulations.

  • Collaborate with supply chain and warehouse teams to ensure efficient flow of materials and products.

  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, downtime, waste, and efficiency; develop action plans to address gaps.

  • Lead Lean or Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste and improve operational performance.

  • Prepare and present monthly operations reports to leadership, highlighting performance, safety, and cost metrics.

Requirements:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline (advanced degree preferred)

EXPERIENCE: 7+ years of experience in chemical or industrial manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity

TRAVEL: 20%

OTHER:

  • Strong understanding of chemical process systems, safety regulations, and quality assurance protocols.

  • Proven track record of leading production teams and implementing process improvements.

  • Submit to and satisfactorily complete pre-employment background, medical, alcohol, and drug screening
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
