Supervisor: Employment Services
Position Summary:
Spearhead and supervise the Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) Uniquely Abled Academy (UAA) program. Oversee and supervise Habilitation services across all regions in Southern CA. Expand Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) services including supported employment and other DOR services in Van Nuys, SCV and Antelope Valley areas. Develop, implement, and supervise other employment services in these regions including the Paid Internship Program and Self Determination.
Work in collaboration with the organization’s Employment Team, Regional Centers, Department of Rehabilitation and other partners and stakeholders.
Focus on the expansion of employment services overall in the Van Nuys, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley areas. Develop and maintain strong employer engagement and employer relationships in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct intake and orientation procedures for all individuals who are referred to Department of Rehabilitation in specific regions outlined above. These procedures will include: conducting the initial intake meeting, assessment and evaluation, arranging and facilitating the person’s intake with the funding source (Regional Center, Department of Rehabilitation, or other).
• Conduct intake and orientation procedures for all individuals who are referred to Habilitation Services and develop, implement, and monitor the IHSP and supports for each supported individual.
• Arrange for and oversee services for all above mentioned services and provide supports to initiate services, implement supports, and monitor individuals’ progress, including:
• Schedules of services and support for individuals.
• Utilize the ERSP system and input and monitor staff schedules of services for supported individuals.
• All pre-placement, job support, and follow-up services.
• Track, manage, and ensure quality standards and compliance for all required tracking reports for each individual’s progress and support needs.
• Identify issues and strategies to assure quality services for each individual and the services as a whole.
• Initiate and participate in circle meetings for individuals in the program.
Capacity building and Direct Supervision:
• Provide supervision of job developer(s) and support their goal of 2 placements/month (on average).
• Supervise job coaches to provide personalized support, equip them with training and tools to successfully support individuals at work while monitoring and documenting their progress.
• Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for Job Developers and job coaches regarding on-the-job support; specifically, around training social/behavioral skills related to work, and specific job/task analysis, teaching strategies, and/or accommodation as needed on the job.
• Recruit, screen, hire and train Job Developers and Job Coaches to meet the needs of each individual in the services.
• Supervise, train, direct, and evaluate the Job Developers and Job Coaches; orient them to Jay Nolan Community Services (JNCS) policies and procedures, the Initial Training Program (ITP), and Employment Specialist Training Course and other training needed for their jobs.
• Provide support and training for staff on a daily basis for quality services and maximum community participation of each individual.
• Conduct periodic evaluation of staff performance, including the following;
• Conduct supervisions with staff on a 1:1 basis as frequently as needed but no less than once per quarter.
• Complete annual performance evaluations for each staff as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant coursework in a related field (e.g., special education, psychology, social work) is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working with individuals with unique needs, especially in a leadership or support role, is advantageous.
- An empathetic and compassionate approach, with the ability to connect with individuals on a one-on-one basis.
- Understanding of and commitment to promoting cultural diversity and neurodiversity.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and patience in meeting the individual's specific requirements.
- CPR and First Aid certification
