GENERAL SUMMARY

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating logistics resources and emergency management activities for natural or man-made emergencies. This position will be responsible for maintaining all program supplies and equipment in preparation and deployment for emergency incidents.


This position ensures the confidentiality, security, and accuracy of records, and promotes positive employee, customer, and community relations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required and outstanding customer service to fellow employees, customers, vendors, etc. is expected. Regular attendance is required, and on occasion, later hours or weekend time may be required with project deadlines and a neat well-groomed professional appearance is essential at all times.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary responsibilities are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform.   • Develop and deploy logistic plans that outline operating procedures to be used in response to disasters or emergencies.
  • Coordinate the organization of all Emergency Management supplies to determine their operational and functional capabilities in emergency situations.
  • Responsible for Identifying and securing the logistics resource locations.
  • Supervise and support staff/contractors during any natural or man-made emergencies.
  • Communicate and work closely with appropriate Tribal, State and Federal agencies using the logistics and resources available to Emergency Management.
  • Respond to all incidents in a timely manner.
  • Assure safety during response of all incidents (Emergencies) for personnel involved.
  • Assure that the response will comply with safety procedures and policies.
  • Properly assess situations to create solutions during incidents.
  • Be dependable and punctual to assigned work schedule, meetings and training sessions.
  • Be rested, alert and ready to work and/or participate in all assigned work-related events.
  • Perform duties in a professional manner.
  • Attend training courses and meetings as appropriate for this position.
  • Perform emergency as a responder during any natural or man-made emergencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • 4 years' experience Emergency Management or continuity of operations
  • Must complete and maintain Incident Command System (ICS) Training Certification: ICS 100/ICS200 and pass ICS300-ICS700-ICS-800 - L580 and L581
  • Fire Fighter Training
  • Must be CPR, First Aid, AED Certified
  • Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the position and work a flexible schedule which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets the minimum requirements established by Nisqually Indian Tribes vehicle insurance provider.
  • Successfully passed a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • The ability to work with vulnerable populations including adults and children.
  • Must pass a State and National (FBI) criminal history background check prior to employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hazardous Waste Operation & Emergency Response Certification (OSHA 29 Compliant)
  • Occupational Safety and Health Standard Certification (OSHA 510)
  • Community Emergency Response Certification
  • FEMA Emergency Management for Tribal Governments Certification.
  • Knowledge of the Nisqually Indian Tribe's history, customs, traditions, and ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience working with Federally Recognized Tribes.

SUPERVISION

This position does not supervise. This position reports to the Communications Manager.

Possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the primary responsibilities of the position.

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective logistics operations.
  • Ability to problem solve effectively.
  • Ability to perform work safely and efficiently in adverse conditions and weather i.e. current, limited visibility, rainstorm, wind, low level hazmat.
  • Ability to operate and maintain program equipment including powerboats.
  • Ability to problem solve effectively.
  • Ability to positively represent the Nisqually Indian Tribe.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work in difficult conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to positively represent the Nisqually Indian Tribe.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

The work environment and exposures described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the primary responsibilities of this job. Work will be conducted indoor and outdoor and may be exposed to fluctuations in temperature while in and around Nisqually Indian Tribe. You may be exposed to all types of weather to include but not limited to summer heat, winter cold, humidity, rain, snow, wind, and any other weather conditions experienced at the property. May be exposed to normal conditions related to the position i.e., noise from vehicles, machines, tools, customers, employees, dust, pollen, odors, wildlife etc.
