DEPARTMENT: Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinicians are responsible for the direct and indirect services to behavioral health clients eligible for Co-Occurring Intensive Outpatient Services. They are licensed by the State of Connecticut and credentialed by the agency to assess, diagnose, and treat clients upon approval of the Clinical Manager. Direct services include assessment, diagnostic evaluations, treatment planning, individual, family and group therapy. Indirect services may include supervision, rounds, case conferences, insurance authorizations and documentation associated with client care. Clinicians work with a multidisciplinary treatment team to help clients to achieve their recovery goals.
EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide comprehensive evaluation, treatment planning, discharge planning and crisis intervention to clients.
- Facilitate Intensive Outpatient (ASAM Level 2.1) individual, group therapy and psycho-educational sessions, utilizing evidence-based and research driven curriculum and interventions on topics related to Substance Use and Co-Occurring Conditions.
- Present clinical information for each client on caseload on a regular basis to the treatment team in rounds. Translate treatment team recommendations to client and assist them with following through with referrals and recommendations as agreed upon by client.
- Develop effective networking relationships with outside contractors, referral sources and community agencies. Engage in ongoing marketing of programs and represent the agency at community events and meetings as assigned by Management.
- Organize and present time sensitive clinical information to managed care companies for the purposes of treatment authorizations and continued stay review.
- Provide written documentation on client’s status to clients, referral sources, Department of Corrections, Court Support Services, Department of Children & Families, Employers, etc.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, rounds, agency committees and work groups as assigned by management. May be required to participate in trainings (both on site and off site) as determined by the Director of Residential Services and/or Vice President of Adult Services.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Master’s Degree in social work, marriage and family therapy or related human services field with at least a one-year clinical internship working with adult population is required. Experience in group therapy and working with substance use disorders is preferred. Training preferred on the following topics: Treatment Criteria for Addictive, Substance-Related, and Co-Occurring Conditions (ASAM), Co-occurring disorders, including prevalence, signs/symptoms, assessment, treatment and the impact of one’s own attitudes/beliefs on the delivery of services and the use of naloxone in response to an opioid overdose.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) or Associate License required for Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFTA) and/or master’s in counseling (LPCA). Advanced license required within two years. LADC is not required but welcomed in addition to primary licensure.
