Responsible for the technical data management across a platform, system or application supporting a data critical business process. This includes overseeing critical data elements (CDEs) within their assigned applications, technology, tools and platforms while executing the policies, standards, and best practices in alignment with data management and governance. Responsible for technical onboarding of CDEs and technical metadata, execution of appropriate CDE Data Quality rules, and data management controls. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
Responsibilities include implementing and maintaining data management and governance controls across a technical system, platform and application supporting business critical processes and the associated critical data elements (CDEs) that support them.
1. Business Metadata Management:
a. Execute technical onboarding of new CDEs that are specific to corresponding Business Unit or Corporate Group – collaborate with Business Data Stewards.
b. Technically implement business metadata across CDEs.
c. Technically execute CDE change requests – collaborate with Business Data Stewards.
d. Perform technical traceability mapping - collaborate with Business Data Steward.
e. Technically validate and certify trusted data sources – collaborate with Business Data Stewards.
2. Enterprise Metadata Repository / Metadata Catalogue:
a. Technically onboard new CDEs’ related business metadata – collaborate with Business Data Stewards.
b. Technically update central metadata repository with business metadata content (business terms, definitions, classifications, and business and Data Quality rules) – collaborate with Business Data Stewards.
c. Discover and execute CDE metadata update requests – collaborate with Business Data Stewards.
d. Technically implement CDE metadata change requests approved with Data Domain Working Group – collaborate with Data Domain Working Group.
3. Technical Metadata Management and Automation
a. Develop and maintain automated processes for metadata ingestion, validation, and synchronization across platforms and repositories.
c. Partner with data engineering and architecture teams to ensure metadata integration with upstream and downstream systems.
4. Data Lineage and Impact Analysis
a. Support the capture and visualization of data lineage for critical data elements across systems and platforms.
b. Collaborate with Business Data Stewards and technical teams to assess the impact of data changes on downstream processes and reporting.
5. Metadata Quality and Stewardship Enablement
a. Monitor metadata completeness, consistency, and accuracy; drive remediation efforts where gaps are identified.
b. Provide technical support and enablement for Business Data Stewards in using metadata tools and platforms.
c. Develop training materials, job aids, and documentation to support metadata stewardship activities.
6. Tool Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
a. proactively identify and escalate production issues to appropriate support teams, ensuring timely follow-through for resolution and post-fix validation to maintain system
b. Participate in the evaluation and implementation of metadata management tools and technologies.
c. Provide feedback and recommendations to improve metadata workflows, user experience, and platform capabilities.
d. Stay current with industry trends and best practices in metadata management, data governance, and cataloging.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

1. Equivalent combination of advanced education and related experience, which could include any combination of: 3-5 years’ experience managing software engineers and systems analysts.
2. Ability to translate enterprise level strategic planning information into software and data management needs, create business plans, and turn them into effective business solutions.
3. Management level communications skills, including, strong negotiation/facilitation/presentation skills and experience negotiating with vendors for relevant products and services.
4. Knowledge of current and emerging application software products and tools
5. Project management experience to include multi-million dollar projects completed on time, within budget and delivering quality results
6. Strong analytical and architectural skills
7. Ability to manage a high volume of internal client relationships
8. Knowledge of all phases of software engineering life cycle and experience with process improvement models
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Knowledge of Data and Analytics including emerging trends.
3. Understanding of banking operations, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
4. Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
5. Familiarity with data analytics, and artificial intelligence in financial institutions.
6. Banking or financial services experience, especially in a particular niche area.
7. Experience with enterprise data management platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica EDC, or Atlan, Manta and Ataccama.
8. Proficiency in SQL and Python for data profiling, metadata automation, or integration tasks.
9. Advanced Excel skills including Power Query, pivot tables, macros, and data modeling.
10. Strong understanding of relational and non-relational database technologies (e.g., Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, MongoDB).
11. Familiarity with REST APIs and metadata integration techniques.
12. Experience supporting data governance initiatives, including data quality, lineage, and stewardship enablement.
13. Certification in data management or governance (e.g., CDMP, CDS, Collibra Ranger, DAMA) is a plus.
14. Ability to work across business and technical teams to translate metadata requirements into actionable solutions.
15. Experience in Agile or hybrid project environments with a focus on iterative delivery and stakeholder engagement.
