The Nursing Resource Center at MD Anderson partners with selected nursing agencies that have gone through a stringent review and vetting process to provide agency nursing personnel to all inpatient and outpatient areas. These nursing agencies are chosen based on the caliber of nursing personnel they are able to provide, the size of the qualified candidate pool, the quality of their nursing processes, and their ability to provide qualified candidates quickly in response to approved nursing need support patient care at MD Anderson. MD Anderson recognizes that highly qualified, experienced, oncology-trained agency personnel comprise a specialized niche of health care professionals. 

This position will work 4-10 hours shifts overnight from 1900-0530 (7pm-530am), every other weekend and rotating holidays. This role is 100% onsite.


Agencies are expected to work with MD Anderson and exercise their best efforts to identify and make available to MD Anderson only those candidates that will closely match the job requirements of the specific unit. This means providing quality professionals who can assimilate quickly into MD Anderson and fill the open positions with minimal orientation time. Agencies are expected to make the extra effort to understand MD Anderson’s specific requirements, policies, and procedures in order to fill these needs.

 

SUMMARY
Function    Ensures appropriate number and mix of qualified staff are present on each unit to meet patient needs.

Scope    Impacts Division of Nursing staffing during all shifts.

Essential Job Functions    

Serves as an account manager working directly with agency nursing staff representatives.  Manages nursing agency files.  Creates reports, analyzes key indicators and makes appropriate recommendations for improvement.  Assesses the staffing schedule of inpatient units on a daily basis and reassigns qualified staff as necessary.  Collects information from all inpatient units regarding census, patient acuity, expected discharges, anticipated admissions, call-ins and requested staffing needs.  Analyzes needs for supplemental help, prioritizes needs, assigns matching competencies and schedules staffing accordingly.  


Employs data from the patient profile system in making staffing decision.  Coordinates the assignment of per diem pool staff and the per diem database.  Monitors call-ins and ensures appropriate assignment of agency, temporary and per diem staff in response.  Assures required credentials are in place for agency staff.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or Equivalent

WORK EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent. Five years of healthcare and/or administrative experience.
