Job Summary:
The Director of Employee Development drives organizational performance and cultural transformation by leading strategic learning, coaching, and development initiatives. This role ensures the development and execution of programs that enhance employee capabilities, leadership potential, and operational excellence across all departments.
This position is responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining talent development strategies that align with Goodwill’s mission and strategic goals. The Director oversees the Functional Trainer and Employee Coach positions, ensuring effective onboarding, functional training, employee support, and leadership development. The role serves as a thought leader in organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and succession development.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver leadership development and employee enrichment programs.
- Identify organizational strengths and gaps; implement strategies to build leadership capabilities and bench strength.
- Lead succession planning efforts and talent pipeline development.
- Provide strategic performance consulting and organizational effectiveness solutions.
- Analyze workforce trends and provide actionable insights to leadership and HR partners.
- Oversee the design and execution of learning strategies, including frameworks, tools, and evaluation models.
- Ensure consistent measurement of training effectiveness and talent metrics.
- Guide the Functional Trainer in SOP-based training, onboarding, and compliance education.
- Liaise with other departments to enhance cross-functional learning and onboarding processes.
- Promote a culture of inclusivity, empathy, and appreciation across all locations.
- Support the development and implementation of orientation strategies to retain top talent.
- Build and maintain a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to support learning and development goals.
- Manage budgets and resources for employee development programs.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum three years of experience in learning and/or talent development.
Experience in adult learning principles, performance management, and organizational design, preferred.
Strong consulting, project management, and analytical skills.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to lead special projects and initiatives based on evolving business needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and company policies.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Frequent travel between sites; mileage reimbursement provided.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.) for transporting materials.
- Flexible schedule may include early mornings or occasional weekends to align with site needs.
