About MBRDI:
Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI), headquartered in Bengaluru with a satellite office in Pune, is the largest R&D center for Mercedes-Benz Group AG outside of Germany. Our mission is to drive innovation and excellence in automotive engineering, digitalization, and sustainable mobility solutions, shaping the future of mobility.

Key Responsibilities:
• Define measurement systems, locator strategy, and tolerance specifications for Body in White (BiW) components and exterior trims in line with styling and manufacturing requirements.
• Ensure robustness of the measurement system from part fabrication to complete BiW assembly.
• Analyze functional requirements of BiW and develop measurement strategies for module fitment.
• Discuss and align tolerance concepts with stakeholders across design, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Perform 1D, 2D, and 3D tolerance stack-up studies during development to identify production risks and propose solutions in terms of measurement strategy, alignment, tolerance specifications, assembly sequence, and design improvements.
• Execute tolerance simulations in 3DCS to digitally replicate production processes, apply appropriate probability distributions based on manufacturing processes, and validate concept robustness.
• Create Gap & Flush plans and concepts to ensure visual and perceived quality of the vehicle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (CFTs) to incorporate feedback and provide technical solutions.
• Develop and align sub-module and closure integration concepts to ensure fitment and support production planning requirements.
• Ensure quality and adherence to project timelines for all deliverables.

Required Skills and Experience:
• Proficiency in 3D tolerance simulation tools3DCS preferred.
• Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and SPC (Statistical Process Control).
• Knowledge of perceived quality and visual quality standards in automotive manufacturing.
• Good understanding of Body in White (BiW) manufacturing processes and automotive assembly operations.
• Familiarity with measurement systems and various inspection methods.
• Working proficiency in Siemens NX.
• Experience range: 5 to 8 years in relevant automotive or manufacturing domains.

Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have):
• Exposure to 3D tolerance analysis, digital validation, and global automotive projects.
• Experience working with Daimler systems or in collaboration with global stakeholders.
• Knowledge of visual quality standards and gap & flush management in premium vehicles.
