Overview:  
The General Manager will direct, manage, and optimize the overall operations of Thompson Pipe Group - Houston. This position is responsible for developing and implementing effective business strategies and programs to support, sustain, and enhance the company's business objectives. This position will help guide commercial success, productivity, quality, distribution, and cost efficiency of the company's Houston, TX operations.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Direct and manages all TPG-Houston business activities from commercial, operations, and transportation.
  • Create functional strategies and specific objectives, including policies and procedures, to support the functional infrastructure.
  • Enhance methods/systems to collect metrics, analyze productivity, and set performance targets that will meet revenue and cost goals. Managing data; generating reports and giving presentations.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify emerging talent and develop high-potential employees.
  • Evaluating performance and productivity to enhance efficiency and ensure continuity.
  • Create and manage budgets.
  • Manage operational data and key performance metrics; create and present detailed reports.  
  • Enhance the company's image and brand reputation through strong leadership, customer relationships, and operational excellence. 
  • Research, identify, and implement growth opportunities that align with overall company objectives. 
 
Qualifications: 
  • Education Required: 
    • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience Required: 
    • At least 8 years of operations management experience in a manufacturing environment, including the management of product, resources, budget, changes and quality.
    • Experience in a client-facing role and working in cross-functional teams towards a common goal.
    • Experience working with all levels of management up to C-level - both in working groups and at a presentation level.
    • Proven effective change management leader.
  • Skills and Knowledge Required: 
    • Superior knowledge of business functions - operations, commercial, project management
    • Proven ability to understand business concepts and issues.
    • Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate, develop, and hold teams accountable.
    • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate daily with the C-suite and cross-functional departments.
    • Strong P&L management experience with focus on cost control, budgeting, and profitability.
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, delegate effectively, and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proven ability to manage deliverables during all phases of a product/project life cycle.
    • Strategic thinking and decision-making to drive both short-term and long-term business objectives.
    • Commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture and ensuring adherence to company policies.
    • Strong sense of accountability and integrity.
    • Proficient in using MS Office, MS Project, Visio, or equivalent tools.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Proactive leadership style with a focus on anticipating challenges, identifying opportunities, and driving continuous improvement.
