Transit Bus Operator-Fairgrounds
- Safely operates a 30 – 36 or higher passenger commercial bus to transport passengers to designated locations and events.
- Assists passengers with boarding, seating, and disembarking, including loading/unloading mobility equipment as needed.
- Conducts thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure operational safety.
- Maintains compliance with all applicable traffic laws, safety standards and
procedures, and transit guidelines and regulations.
- Maintains a clean and comfortable vehicle environment by regulating temperature and ensuring cleanliness before and after each trip.
- Reports mechanical issues, incidents, or delays to the supervisor immediately and documents accordingly.
- Utilizes provided route sheets, maps, or GPS systems to follow designated travel paths.
- Coordinates and maintains accurate trip records, planned routes, logistics
schedules, or any other required documentation.
- Coordinates and participates in planning of transportation policies, programs, and objectives for the Department.
- Attends training sessions and maintains current certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and AED (training provided by the County).
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers and strategizes the swift deployment of supplies in crisis situations.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Minimum five (5) years or more of professional commercial driving
experience in large commercial bus and/or commercial transport
vehicles.
- Valid and current Texas Driver's License
- Proof of vehicle liability insurance/minimum Texas Requirements
- Strong knowledge of safe driving practices and traffic regulations.
- Friendly, courteous demeanor and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to operate GPS and read maps for efficient routing.
- Physically able to perform tasks such as entering/exiting vehicle, assisting passengers, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
SALARY: $22.96-Min to $28.70/ Hourly
