General Summary
- Under general supervision, the Director is responsible for the leadership, management, clinical/business operations, and financial oversight for the Delbert Day Cancer Institute. Oversees and directs strategic planning for the Cancer Institute and other health system related oncology services and programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and support to the Delbert Day Cancer Institute, leveraging creative leadership skills to ensure positive outcomes through high quality compassionate patient care.
- Works with medical staff and other health care professionals collaboratively for planning, organizing and overseeing all processes related to organizational quality outcomes, risk management, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrates effectiveness in leading and directing departmental operations through efficient management/supervision of personnel; including evaluation, training and performance motivation.
- Delegates effectively and establishes clear guidelines for accountability.
- Participates in the development and review of departmental policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of organizational objectives. When necessary, makes appropriate recommendations to executive leadership.
- Ability to use planning, research and foresight to make decisions that meet the needs and goals of the health system.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to maximize organizational and department efficiencies and outcomes.
- Develops, directs and insures the implementation of department services that promote optimum health care delivery and customer service.
- Promotes and continually educates employees on the concept of service excellence for all patrons of the health system, to include: patients, visitors, physicians and employees.
- Accountable for creating a system that fosters participation and collaboration in planning, implementing and evaluating standards to insure safe, efficient and therapeutically effective healthcare.
- Develops and Maintains relationships with referring centers, physicians, providers and clinics, as well as with affiliated programs and institutions.
- Enhances the patient experience through the use of best practices, appropriate care pathways and positive communication.
- Drives employee engagement through the development and implementation of appropriate strategies and activities.
- Implements and oversees oncology related outreach and education, screening activities and other community events.
- Responsible for the continued programmatic growth of the Delbert Day Cancer Institute.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Master’s degree (MBA, MHA) preferred.
Work Experience
- Must have five (5) years or more of related Manager level or higher experience.
- Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills required.
- Knowledge in the guidelines and requirements of applicable Regulatory agencies such as TJC, Health and Senior Services, OSHA and others.
- Additional Skills: Strong business planning and program development skills with a proven track record in the development of quality clinical services.

Mental/Physical Requirements
- Normal mental concentration with frequent periods of intense concentration due to deadlines and sensitive situations. Candidate must be able to transport self throughout facility. Candidate will be subject to standing, walking, sitting, carrying/lifting (up to 10 lbs.), turning, carrying, pushing, pulling and stooping on a frequent basis.
