Description

A UME Motor Vehicle Mechanic possesses extensive knowledge of various military vehicles and equipment, including FMTVs, LMTVs, JLTVs, M1113s, M1151s, M1165s, M1152s, M1097s, M1038s, HEMTTs, ATVs, generators, and other power-driven machinery that may require Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Technical Manuals as assigned to the designated SF Group. This mechanic serves as the customer SME on all maintenance-related issues, performing repairs and services at both the organizational and intermediate levels of maintenance for all Army Common equipment. This includes conducting both scheduled and routine unscheduled vehicle maintenance at the unit site and off-site when deployed to other CONUS locations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • FMTV, LMTVs, JLTV, M1113s, M1151s, M1165s M1152s, M1097s, M1038s, HEMTT, ATVs, Generators, and other power-driven equipment that may require Original OEM Technical Manuals assigned to the designated SF Group - Serve as the customer SME on all maintenance related issues.
  • Performs repairs and services at the Organizational and intermediate levels of maintenance for all Army Common equipment. Performs all scheduled and routine unscheduled vehicle maintenance at the unit site and off-site if deployed to another CONUS location.
  • Performs engine, transmission and electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic on assigned equipment to determine required repairs IAW applicable technical manuals.
  • Must be capable of replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings or other engine parts that have become unserviceable on all types of Army common vehicles. 
  • Inspection, Service, and Repair of the M153 Common Remotely Operated Weapons Station (CROWS). In addition to system maintenance, CROWS and platform integration kit installation may be required and shall be completed in compliance to established procedure.
  • Other duties as identified and assigned. 


 

Qualifications


Required Education and Experience

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability of securing and maintaining a secret clearance (preference will be given to those with a clearance.
  • The applicant seeking the mechanic position must also have worked on the family of military vehicles and have at least 5 years of hard maintenance experience.
  • Must be capable of replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings or other engine parts that have become unserviceable on all types of Army common vehicles.
  • You must be able to meet all health requirements.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, bend, reach and walk for extended periods of time.

Supervisory Responsibilities
As Required.

Security Responsibilities

  • Eligible and obtain (if required) a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.
  • Must comply with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures. 

Language Skills
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex words and technical documents/diagrams.  
Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing and work effectively as part of a team.

Reasoning Ability and Mathematical Skills 
Must be able to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to calculate figures and numbers, and percentages and be able to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

  • Must be able to detect odors, noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect discrepancies of malfunctioning equipment.

  • Must be able to perform Domestic and International travel as required. 
  • Shop floor environment.  
  • Will be working in areas with risk of injury from electrical applications, moving mechanical parts, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems under pressure and electrical motion systems.  
  • May be exposed to conditions of extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
