Position Summary

As part of our Enterprise approach, the BU Tech team partners closely with the Global Customer Office, among other business partners, to deliver impactful technology solutions for a range of customers (Consumers, HCPs and others)

We are seeking a visionary, strategic, collaborative, execution focused and result oriented leader with strong communication skills to join our team as Director –Transformation Strategy, Customer Technology Lilly India.

The Customer-facing Technology team in India is at an inflection point – to enable Lilly to meet ambitious goals of serving 150 million patients by 2030, the Customer Tech team will have to evolve the way we serve our customers, working smarter and more collaboratively to speed up the time-to-market and time-to-peak for the exciting pipeline in store.

This role will lead and drive AI and modern technology-enabled transformation initiatives in partnership developed in collaboration with the Enterprise Tech teams, Bengaluru Commercial Services team, a variety of IBU affiliates (starting with India) and their tech leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Enterprise Tech Transformation

  • Serve as the SPoC for all key Customer Technology operating model transformations, which are crucial to the overall success of Technology at Lilly’s global transformation program
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Tech teams (Data, Software Engg, AI, Automation and others) to transform the DevOps service delivery model for Commercial technology work that currently is delivered through a wide range and volume of technology vendor partners
  • Build ambitious but viable business cases for these models (typically a mix of FTEs and contract workers) to in-house the product and solutions expertise
  • Build an “optimize, with AI where needed” into the operating model of the transformation, so that productivity and innovation are baked into the planning (vs being implemented later)
  • Lead and oversee the transformation program once it’s approved, including owning relationships with vendors to ensure key aspects (e.g. work intake, knowledge transfer, SLA redefinitions, cutover planning and KPIs) are aligned across all key functional, enterprise (and business stakeholders where required)
  • In collaboration with the Enterprise tech teams to shape and evolve playbooks for future transformations that will benefit from the Customer Tech team leading the way in self-disruption

Global Commercial Services Engagement Transformation

  • Partner with the Global Customer Office Bengaluru leadership to strategize, prioritize, secure funding and oversee the delivery of AI-driven initiatives and outcomes, while building consensus across global & local Tech and Commercial services leadership
  • Shape the enterprise AI strategy by translating complex commercial challenges into scalable, forward-looking technology roadmaps, leveraging global innovation ecosystems and internal capabilities.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and change management to ensure successful adoption and measurable impact of AI technologies
  • Continuously scan the external tech landscape to anticipate disruptive trends and proactively position Lilly’s commercial tech strategy for future readiness and competitive advantage; using this understanding, proactively put forward proposals for embracing new ways of powering the commercial business.
  • Shape decisions that influence strategic direction of commercial tech initiatives across multiple business units.
  • Lead broader key strategic initiatives for commercial BUs in alignment with global BU and technology leadership.
  • Champion the collaboration between horizontal and BU teams to drive best outcomes for the business and customers with speed, clarity and alignment.

IBU Affiliate Service Model Transformation

  • Starting with the India affiliate, and expanding to other IBU affiliates, work in sync with the Commercial Engagement leaders to:
  • Serve as the primary Tech@Lilly thought partner based in Bengaluru for the IBU integrated service delivery model, building and leveraging strong relationships with affiliate leadership that will lead to
    • incorporating long-term India-based delivery plans in the strategic and business planning processes
    • inclusion of forward-looking innovative solutions and tech products in the affiliate commercial roadmaps
  • Co-lead strategic discussions with affiliate and hub leadership (e.g., CMOs, BU Heads, GMs) to understand key business challenges and define roadmaps for technology related aspects of commercial needs of affiliates
  • Co-create and enable delivery of tech-enabled solutions tailored to local market needs, ensuring close alignment with global strategies and enterprise platforms.
  • Advocate for affiliate needs within the broader enterprise tech ecosystem, ensuring visibility and support for local innovation and experimentation.
  • Serve as a thought partner to affiliates and hubs, bringing forward innovative solutions, best practices, and insights from across the organization.
  • Champion a culture of partnership, agility, and customer-centricity in all affiliate- and hub-facing Tech@Lilly interactions

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • 15+ years of experience in consulting, business development, or sales roles with a strong technology orientation, including time in tech/software product organizations.
  • Proven track record of leading digital or AI transformation initiatives in commercial or healthcare settings.
  • Broad and deep understanding of emerging technologies (AI/ML, cloud, data platforms) and their application in driving business outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across levels and geographies.
  • Demonstrable success in working with global organizations and cross-cultural teams on transformation initiatives.
  • Recognized as a thought leader in commercial tech transformation within Lilly or externally
  • Demonstrated expertise in deploying AI/ML solutions in commercial healthcare settings with measurable business impact

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • # of Tech/AI-driven initiatives proposed for global services and the India affiliate, piloted and impact in terms of productivity and business impact, as applicable
  • Adoption speed and time-to-value for initiatives from conceptualization to stabilization
  • Contributions to growth in thought leadership via showcasing innovations in internal and external forums
  • KPIs include measurable contributions to enterprise-wide transformation and innovation adoption.
