Job Title: Carpenter – Semi-Automated Panelized Wall Line
Position Overview:
The Carpenter will work as part of the production team manufacturing panelized wall systems in a semi-automated facility. This role involves reading shop drawings, assembling wall panels using both traditional carpentry tools and automated machinery, and ensuring quality, precision, and safety throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble panelized wall components (studs, plates, sheathing, insulation, etc.) according to shop drawings and production plans.
- Operate semi-automated machinery such as saws, framing tables, nailing bridges, and material handling systems.
- Ensure panels meet quality standards, including correct dimensions, fastener patterns, and material specifications.
- Interpret and follow technical drawings, layouts, and work orders accurately.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain an efficient production flow.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
- Identify and report material shortages or defects to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for process efficiency and quality enhancement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of carpentry or framing experience (manufacturing or construction).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Experience using power tools, pneumatic nailers, measuring instruments, and jigs.
- Familiarity with automated or semi-automated production equipment is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, quality, and precision.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Preferred:
- Experience in prefabricated or modular construction environments.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and lean production principles.
- Forklift or overhead crane operation experience (training provided if needed).
Working Conditions:
- Indoor manufacturing facility environment.
- Exposure to moderate noise, sawdust, and moving machinery.
- Standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
