ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR – Spring 2026

The Department of Biology at the University of Rochester invites applications for a non-tenure track Adjunct Instructor position. The responsibilities of this appointment will be to prepare for and teach BIOL 217L (Principles of Human Anatomy with lab) from January 1, 2026 to May 31, 2026 (classes run from January 20 to May 1; final exams May 5-10). This includes grading of course assignments and tests, supervising lab TAs, as well as student office hours and advising in connection with the course. 

This course focuses on the structures of the body, with a special emphasis on humans. Topics include the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, endocrine, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, digestive, and reproductive systems. In addition to the lecture, the course has an associated weekly lab.  We expect the course to be taken by 60 – 70 students.  Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:50 a.m. to 1:05 p.m.

Qualifications in the appropriate area and demonstrated excellence in teaching is required. Position does not include benefits. The position begins January 1, 2026.
