PRIMARY FUNCTION: The job of Production Specialist is done for the purpose/s of reproducing a variety of printed, engraved, sublimated and embroidered products with various machines and finishing processes for MCSD school, district office and organizations affiliated with MCSD; instructional materials, conferences, special events, board items, meetings, banners, shirts, trophies, etc.

Valid Driver’s License; Knowledge based testing for the required job skills may be requested. |

Job related experience is required. |

4. Physical Activities: |
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 10% walking, 40% standing. |

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: |
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operation of bindery equipment; and safety practices and procedures; extensive knowledge of operations regarding printing, graphics, and mailing.
SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in printing; knowledge of registration, web-to-print, design skills.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Lifting up to 50lbs. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: working as part of a team; meeting deadlines and schedules; operate and perform, efficiently, all features of Digital Operator including the stitcher, binder, folder and other peripherals. |
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Communicates with (Manager or Purchasing Specialist) for the purpose of ordering materials to maintain supply to stock. |

Consult with customers on their needs/requirements when measuring for orders for the purpose of ensuring the best option is completed to suit their needs within capabilities. |

Cut, prep and install (e.g., wide format banners, wall graphics, window clings, floor graphics, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring products are finished and installed to specifications of the customer. |

Employs proper safety precautions regarding operating heat presses, embroidery machine, to include utilization of heat-safe tools such as (e.g., tweezers, tongs, mitts, heat resistant gloves, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safety procedures are followed at all times. |
|
7. |
Identifies paper types, sizes and textures for the purpose of printing materials accurately and efficiently per customer specifications. |
|
8. |
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of Digital Printers Software to include navigation of the software's UI, sub-menus, maintenance routines and logs, and its various applications efficiently for the purpose of finishing the printed product to the specifications of the customer. |

Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of Digital Printers hardware, such as feeder scanner, glass top scanner, paper trays, fusers and doing routine maintenance for the purpose of ensuring machines are printing products per the specifications of the customer. |
|

Maintains and demonstrates knowledge regarding clearing jams, cleaning machines, providing minor machine maintenances, error codes, part swaps for toner hoppers, toner cartridges, fusers, etc. for the purpose of ensuring machines are printing products per the specifications of the customer. |
|
11. |
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge and utilization of printer software and its various applications efficiently for the purpose of finishing the printed product to the specifications of the customer. |
|
12. |
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of various papers and substrates (materials to be printed on) and their various requirements regarding printing settings, cooling, drying, outgassing, etc. for the purpose of finishing the printed product to the specifications of the customer. |
|
13. |
Maintains knowledge of proper heat settings and pressure settings for various substrates (materials to be printed on) for the purpose of finishing the printed product to the specifications of the customer. |
|
14. |
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of equipment software for the purpose of setting up design files to engrave. |
|
15. |
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of offset printing presses and plate maker for the purpose of finishing the printed product to the specifications of the customer. |
|
16. |
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of proper finishing for (e.g., banners, posters, yard signs, mounted signs, wide format laminating, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the products are to the specifications of the customer |

17. |
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of folding products via equipment such as (e.g., Digital Printer fold settings or pneumatic folders, etc.) for the purpose of meeting the specifications of the customer. |
|
18. |
Maintains logs on mileage and fuel for the purpose of ensuring vehicles have their routine maintenance. |
|

Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of proper routes, policies and procedures while delivering mail to schools and district offices for the purpose of ensuring mail is delivered to correct locations. |
|
20. |
Maintains paper supply via organizing the paper supply room in a cohesive, clear way to maintain organization and clarity on volume of individual paper supplies for various paper types for the purpose of ensuring standard supplies are on hand. |
|
21. |
Maintains various envelope and panel card/fold-over supplies for the purpose of printing using the offset press. |
|
22. |
Maintains various printable substrates supplies for sublimation such as (e.g., t-shirts, mugs, water bottles, tumblers, badges, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring standard supplies are available or ordered. |
|
23. |
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of laser engraver for the purpose of ensuring settings are correct for products being engraved and performing routine maintenance. |
|
24. |
Mount adhesive material onto (e.g., foamboard, Sintra board, yard sign corrugated board, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring products are finished and installed to specifications of the customer. |

25. |
Operate and maintain (e.g., Creaser/Perf machine, tape binder, hole punch/book binder, perfect binding equipment, 3-hole punch, 36" guillotine cutter, padding, book collator machine, laminator, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit are met along and that all safety procedures are followed. |

Operates and maintain Sawgrass, wide format printer and embroidery machine for the purpose of printing. |
|
27. |
Prints all stock forms, multi-part forms, large envelope orders for the purpose of finishing the printed product to the specifications of the customer. |

28. |
Utilizes Adobe Acrobat Pro Software to set up organization and layouts for printing on the digital printers. Maintains and demonstrates knowledge regarding the software for the purpose of making minor edits and adjustments to better produce quality printed products per customer specifications. |

Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit for the purpose of ensuring products are to the specifications of the customer. |
