Position Summary: Electrical Assembly Technician - install cable trays, cut, bend and install buss bar, hang doors/siding, install specialty components, assemble and attach electrical components/devices and perform basic wiring functions, (e.g. Switches, breakers, electrical panels) on electrical equipment such as E-houses, LACT units, metering skids, switch gear, capacitor banks, MCC houses, control centers, etc.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:30 pm (Every other Friday Off)
Essential Functions - Other Duties May Be Assigned.
Assembly
- Install a variety of electrical equipment and component devices such as: cable trays, conduit, brackets, pipe hangers, assembly mounts for HVAC units, pumps, etc.
- Measure, cut and bend buss bar for specific projects. Insulate buildings and hang doors, install siding.
- Assemble, fit and mount sub-assemblies, components, and standard fixed assemblies in electrical control equipment.
- Perform assembly required for test preparation and final inspection such as switch gear, electrical switches and electronic instruments and devices, such as programmable process controllers (PLCs), data loggers, relays, breakers and other electronic instrumentation equipment.
- Follow quality process in checking procedures and equipment to verify electrical/mechanical integrity of units.
- Position, align, or adjust work pieces or electrical parts to facilitate wiring or assembly. Perform basic wiring functions.
- Adjust, repair, or replace electrical or electronic component parts to correct defects and to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Perform basic troubleshooting duties as required and diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and make necessary repairs.
- Perform installations compliant with current electrical codes and MSHA/OSHA regulations.
- Responsible for assigned project completion, quality and delivery according to work schedule.
Tools and Equipment
- Various hand tools – wire strippers, crimpers, drill, razor knife, wrenches, impact driver, shears, punch.
- Use overhead crane, forklift, hoists, to assist in electrical assembly and moving materials/projects.
- Properly care for and maintain tools in good operating condition; ensure tools and equipment is properly stored at the end of each shift.
- May operate sand blaster.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High School Diploma plus one year experience working as a skilled laborer in heavy industrial manufacturing operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and understand basic wiring schematics and layout diagrams.
- Experience with various hand tools, crimpers, wire strippers, electrical testing equipment.
- Self-motivated and capable of working in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Confident with the ability to work closely with other technicians and management while keeping production flowing and meeting due dates
- Demonstrated proficiency to achieve high quality results in electrical assemblies, siding of buildings, wiring, installing cable trays and components and continual attention to quality and detail in the final assembly stage of production.
- Must be detail oriented and committed to producing quality work
- Must be able to get along with co-workers, supervisors, management, etc.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must possess valid OSHA forklift and Overhead Crane certification or ability to obtain such.
- Must comply with and follow all IE safety programs, policies and procedures. Must operate and perform job duties in a safe manner. Must be able to operate/work safely around machinery/moving equipment.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Peripheral vision, Color Vision, Depth perception and Ability
- to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or smell.
- The employee is frequently required to stand and walk and must be able to perform frequent heavy lifting and continual bending and standing on a concrete floor.
- Must be able to safely climb up and down ladders and work at heights between six to fifteen feet when required.
Work Schedule: Must be able to work a 40-hour work week and additional time as required.
