Perfusion Assistant prepares the operating room for the patient and oversees the entry of the patient. Under supervision of the Perfusionist, assists with hemodynamic equipment, auto-transfusion blood salvage, and assists the perfusionist during the procedure. Prepares and operates the Hepcon Heparin management system for surgical procedures. Assists point of care laboratory department with quality controls of point of care equipment. Respond to certain emergency situations when appropriate.Education & Experience

Healthcare experience in a surgical environment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent attention to detail and adherence to sterile techniques, ability to work effectively under pressure in high-acuity surgical settings, and good communication and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities:
- Order supplies and Restock cabinets and carts.
- Maintain all POC and Perfusion equipment (daily, weekly Qc's and monthly maintenance).
- Assist perfusionist with pulling supplies and preparing for the days cases.
- Assist perfusionist during CPB with ACT, Blood Gases and cell salvage.
- Assist perfusionist with the tear down and maintenance of the H/L machine after bypass.

Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, constant exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, occasional work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, constant bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, occasional crawling, frequent crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and frequent walking.
