Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking an Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Grant Victim Advocate (contracted). This position will be for the project period from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension. The role is an 11-month, part-time position (25-hours per week), with the option to have flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. This position includes travel for OVW related trainings.

The OVW Victim Advocate will work within the College Health Services department, in collaboration with the Student Development & Mission/Dean of Students Office, and will report directly to the Director of The Harbor and Violence Prevention/OVW Project Supervisor. The Victim Advocate provides confidential emotional support, crisis intervention, and practical assistance to student, faculty or staff victims of Sexual Assault, Dating and Domestic Violence, and stalking, ensuring their rights are respected throughout the College’s adjudication or restorative justice pathways by connecting them with necessary resources and advocating on their behalf, often accompanying them to Title IX related meetings, Court hearing, and resourcing to community support services. Other key responsibilities include collaborating on prevention strategies, conducting training for students, faculty, and staff, and ensuring adherence to OVW grant requirements, data collection and guidelines.

Recommended Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, public health, Victim Advocacy or a related field
  • Extensive knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking
  • Knowledge of Title IX, the legal system, victims' rights, and confidentiality
  • Understanding of trauma and its impact
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations and build community partnerships 
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities 
  • Strong empathy and ability to build rapport with victims
  • Crisis intervention
  • Strong organizational and case management skills
