Job Title: Network Engineering Manager

Department: Operations – Services

Reports To: RavenTek Program Manager

Location: Norfolk, VA

Schedule: Monday – Friday 

Hours: Full-time, 40-hours/week

FLSA Status: Hourly, Nonexempt

Clearance: Secret

Position Summary

The Network Engineering Manager is responsible for providing technical leadership and strategic direction for the planning, implementation, and optimization of complex network infrastructures. This position leads a team of network engineers supporting both legacy and modern systems across enterprise environments. The performance of this position is key to RavenTek's performance on the contract, and therefore RavenTek's mission to support the customer.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in planning, investigation, design, and implementation of network solutions.
  • Develop solutions involving digital encoding formats, timing concepts, and multi-discipline integration.
  • Lead collaboration with team members, customers, and vendors on voice, data, and image communications.
  • Prepare advanced network diagrams, work prints, and schematics for entire network structures.
  • Recommend new network design tools and strategies for communications initiatives.
  • Evaluate network usage trends and implement scalable media solutions.
  • Support proposal efforts with technical solutions and costing models.
  • Recommend product modifications and influence vendor adoption.
  • Plan and implement network management systems for monitoring communication infrastructure.
  • Oversee deployment of network administration tools and accurate inventory tracking.
  • Conduct diagnostics and implement control and measurement solutions for network performance.
  • Manage a team of network engineering professionals supporting diverse technologies. 
  • Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.
  • Provide Monthly Status Report (MSR) to the RavenTek Program Manager by the deadline provided.
  • Monitor RavenTek email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly.
  • Complete required compliance training as assigned.
  • Travel on an as needed basis up to 10%.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Critical Skills

  • Strong understanding of network architectures, protocols, and performance optimization.
  • Familiar with DoD network security requirements and classified network operations.
  • Proficiency in network performance monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and team development abilities.
  • Strategic thinking and vendor relationship management.
  • Must be able to work with classified networks when required.
  • Ability to manage critical network operations.

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in network engineering.
  • Experience with large-scale, complex network environments.
  • Experience balancing operational network needs with modernization efforts.
  • Experience managing network engineering teams.

Certifications, Licenses

  • CompTIA Security+ CE.
  • Network certifications (CCNP, CCIE, etc.), desired.
  • SAFe certification, desired.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP), desired.

Special Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearances.

Work Environment 

Employee will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis.

Physical Demands

To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee must be able to lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically up to 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
