Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Texas Education Agency paraprofessional educational aide certificate
• Experience working with children
• Ability to get along with others and follow directions while working independently
• Computer/typing skills and/or willingness to learn

Job Goal:

Major Duties:

• Supervises small group student activities
• Conducts one-on-one instructional activities
• Performs clerical (instructional) activities for the classroom teacher
• Distributes and collects instructional material
• Assists in classroom management and supervision
• Set up and assist with supervision of listening stations and/or centers
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Ability to work in variable environmental conditions related to temperature, humidity and other atmosphere conditions.
• Possible travel by car, van or bus, and working alone or with others
• Physical ability to do lifting of 10 lbs. or more, talking, bending, kneeling, pulling, reaching, grasping, pushing, stooping, walking, standing, sitting, climbing, occasional running and the ability to move with agility.
• The ability to assist students with toileting and personal hygiene, feeding, mobility, positioning and seizure activity.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn behavior management intervention techniques.
• The ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
• The ability to understand and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to cope with biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
