About the Role:

As a Therapist at Cornerstone - Stepping Stones, you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals and families through various mental health challenges by providing compassionate and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Your work will focus on facilitating emotional healing, promoting psychological well-being, and empowering clients to develop coping strategies for life transitions and behavioral health concerns. You will conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions tailored to meet the unique needs of each client, ensuring a safe and confidential environment. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to comprehensive care plans that address crisis intervention and anger management. Ultimately, your efforts will help clients achieve improved mental health outcomes and enhanced quality of life within the community we serve.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field.
  • Valid state licensure or certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in mental health counseling, including individual and group therapy.
  • Strong knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and behavioral health principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to client confidentiality and ethical practice.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with diverse populations and in community-based health care settings.
  • Training or certification in specialized therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
  • Background in family therapy and anger management programs.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation standards.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages or experience with culturally competent care.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions using established counseling techniques and psychotherapeutic approaches.
  • Assess clients’ mental health status and develop personalized treatment plans to address their specific needs and goals.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support during acute episodes to ensure client safety and stabilization.
  • Facilitate anger management and life transition counseling to help clients develop effective coping mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and case managers to coordinate holistic care and follow-up services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and supervision to enhance therapeutic skills and stay current with best practices.

The required skills such as Counseling Psychology, Group Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling are essential for conducting effective therapeutic sessions and developing individualized treatment plans. Family Therapy and Psychotherapy skills enable the therapist to address complex relational dynamics and emotional challenges within family systems. Crisis Intervention and Anger Management skills are critical for managing acute client situations and facilitating emotional regulation. Life Transitions and Behavioral Health expertise support clients in navigating significant changes and improving overall mental wellness.
