Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operation Technology (OT) / IT Network Administrator to join our team. As an OT / IT Network Administrator, you will be responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining the network infrastructure used in our operation technology and information technology systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement robust, reliable, and secure OT/IT network solutions that align with business goals and industry best practices. This role requires a deep understanding of networking principles, network security measures, OT/IT systems, cybersecurity, and the ability to maintain and administrate scalable and resilient network architectures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deploy, and manage the operation technology (OT) / IT network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Maintain and manage the operation technology (OT) / IT network architecture based on business requirements and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements and network design specifications.
  • Document network recommend standards, guidelines, and best practices for the OT / IT network infrastructure.
  • Implement secure and resilient network solutions for OT / IT systems, considering factors such as availability, performance, scalability, and redundancy.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance, availability, and security of the OT / IT network.
  • Implement and enforce network security measures, such as access controls, firewall rules, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify and address potential security risks.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and cybersecurity requirements in the design and implementation of the OT network.
  • Conduct network assessments to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement in the OT network infrastructure.
  • Participate in incident response activities, including investigating security incidents and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of OT systems with other IT infrastructure components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues, including network outages, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Monitor network traffic and analyze network data to identify patterns and anomalies.
  • Create and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to OT networking and cybersecurity, and network architecture.
  • Provide training and guidance to end-users on network usage, security protocols, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing support of the OT / IT network infrastructure.
  • Evaluate and select network hardware, software, and technologies that align with business goals and meet technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT and OT teams to integrate the OT network with other IT infrastructure components, such as enterprise networks and data centers.
  • Work closely with cybersecurity teams to implement network security controls, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls, to protect the OT network.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to network administrators and other IT personnel on OT network architecture, best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Conduct proof-of-concept and pilot projects to evaluate new network technologies and assess their feasibility and suitability for the OT environment.
  • Management of vendor specific tool sets such as Rockwell Automation and Clarity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience as a network administrator, preferably in an operation technology (OT) / IT environment.
  • Proven experience as a network architect or a similar role, with a focus on operation technology (OT) networks.
  • Strong knowledge of networking principles, protocols, routing, switching, and subnetting.
  • Proficiency in network design and architecture principles, including network segmentation, redundancy, and high availability.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, routing, switching, and subnetting.
  • In-depth understanding of operation technology systems, such as SCADA, DCS, PLCs, and industrial control systems.
  • Understanding of IT cybersecurity principles and best practices, particularly in the context as it relates to OT networks.
  • Experience with network security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and virtual private networks (VPNs) and access controls.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking standards and protocols, such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Profibus.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards and regulations relevant to OT networks, such as NERC CIP and IEC 62443.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, CISSP) are a plus.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time as needed, project work and deployments.

The salary range of $67,000 - $111,900 is just one component of Morton's total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience.
