Harbor is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join the Port Sylvania team! This position delivers professional care in the appropriate setting to patients and potentially their families who are experiencing a severe and persistent mental illness.
Position is full-time, 40 hours per week. Position is split between 1st and 2nd shift, working 12:30PM - 9:00PM.
Education/Experience/Other Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Business, Social Work, Psychology, or related field required. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, will substitute a minimum of an Associate’s Degree with a CDCA, LCDC, or RN.
- License to practice in Ohio as LSW, LPC, or Psychologist preferred.
- Minimum of two years of administrative experience and supervisory experience.
- Candidate must demonstrate leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.
- Must be at least 23 years of age, must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to be deemed insurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier. Must remain up to date on annual Defensive Driving for 15-Passenger Vans training requirement.
Essential Job Competencies/Primary Duties:
- Exhibits leadership and works in a highly collaborative manner with all team members to provide a unified program approach to promote a cooperative atmosphere, acceptable/expected levels of efficiency and effectiveness of team members, and overall program operation and service success.
- Provides personnel management functions for all assigned staff including supervision, annual evaluations, involvement in hiring, disciplinary actions, etc. Any disciplinary action involving time off without pay or termination requires coordination/consultation with Human Resources.
- Coordinates team coverage to ensure patient and program service needs are met, including but not limited to, developing, and managing staff schedules, authorizing changes in staff schedules, arranging coverage for staff call offs and planned time off, and managing and approving timesheets.
- Directs the program including ensuring compliance with facility licensure codes, rules, regulations, procedures, and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate records in a timely manner.
- Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate residential services to assure continuity of organizational goals.
- Monitors program budget to ensure funds/expenses are within budgetary scope.
- Maintains all Residential administrative correspondence, files, and mail.
- Accountable for monitoring, tracking, and processing Prior Authorizations.
- Monitors and manages the program wait lists.
- Participates in marketing activities and serves as a community liaison for referral sources and outreach.
- Monitors, tracks, and addresses Daily Rate Service Billing and billing documentation errors with the staff and Billing Department.
- Responsible for accurate data collection for outcome measurement and reporting requirements for grants and other funding sources.
- Assists Quality Improvement department in the preparation of all required reporting to internal and external stakeholders. .
- Assists with preparing the team for accreditation, licensure, certification, and audits.
- Responsible for ordering, obtaining, and distributing office and program supplies.
- Responsible for securing and coordinating meal/food contracts, and delivery.
- Reviews and processes invoices, donations, and responses to donors, and monitors and manages program budget with Harbor leadership.
- Works in coordination with other managers, coordinators, and teams to ensure coverage of services, supervision, and crisis support.
- Must be available for emergencies as needed.
- Provide clinical services including clinical counseling, crisis management, group-based therapy and diagnostic assessment on admission as necessary.
- Complete peer-to-peer reviews for prior authorizations.
